Calm Your Tits, The Calgary Flames Aren’t Going Anywhere

Growing up as an Oilers fan I was taught from a young age that the Calgary Flames are our “mortal enemy”, and while the rivalry hasn’t been as heated between the two clubs in my lifetime I can’t imagine them not being in the league.

Yesterday was there was some breaking news out of Cowtown when President Ken King announced that the team would no longer be pursuing a new arena in Calgary, with Gary Bettman beside him. Does anyone remember when Gary pulled that same tactic in Edmonton?

I have news for you who are cheering over the fact that Seatle announced yesterday as well that they’re going to upgrade the Key Arena for an NHL team by 2020, that won’t be the future home of the Flames.

There is no way in hell that Calgary will let the Flames leave, they’re such an important part of the economics of the city. Could you imagine, the Flames pack up for Seattle and their entire energy sector is in a tail spin? Oh my lanta Calgary.

It’s an election year in Calgary, the mayoral election takes place next month. Anyone running against current Mayor, Naheed Nenshi was handed a gold platter; just say that you’ll be willing to negotiate once your elected and boom people will vote for you. Nenshi is a popular dude, but unfortunately┬áhe just punched his ticket to be voted out.

What do you think of the news out of Calgary yesterday? Do you think I’m on the right track? Let me know by leaving a comment or shooting me a tweet @nooorzy.
