Morning skate – the more dramatic edition

It sounds like the morning skate may have started off with a bit of tension after Iiro Pakarinen hit Cam Talbot square in the mask with a shot. It’s funny to see the difference in how the reporters all tweeted out about the incident. Ryan Rishaug’s tweet in my opinion caused a bit of a stir, I had to take the chance to reply. Mark Spector had the most hilarious take on it. I have to think Oilers communications guy J.J. Hebert has a talk with the media about the tone of tweets these guys send out after the way this was viewed this morning.

Slepy is back

The good news out of practice is that Anton Slepyshev returned to the ice for the first time during camp. Gregor asked him how his progression is coming along, what does this mean for that right side? If I’m Puljujarvi I’m thinking I need to kick it into another gear, ASAP.

Oh right, there’s a game tonight

Onto more important things, the Oilers have another preseason game tonight! The Canucks are currently icing a “B” team while the majority of their regulars are over in China helping expand the game there. Virtanen will be in the lineup for the Canucks, but highly touted prospects Brock Boeser and Thatcher Demko are taking maintenance¬†days.

The Oilers are giving Brossoit the nod in net to play the entire game. They’re resting a lot of their main roster in favor of fringe players, except for the Lucic, Drai, Caggiula line. Yamamoto will get another go tonight, but this time with Pakarinen and PTO Kelly. The farm will look good with these bottom six players, but who will shine in the game tonight? No word on who will be on the blue line but I expect to see Caleb Jones. If you’re wondering where Puljujarvi is, Todd says Jesse will play tomorrow night.

Do you have any opinions on the tweets from the reporters this morning? What line are you excited to see play tonight? What are your thoughts on Slepy being almost at 100%? Shoot me a tweet @nooorzy.
